Alessandra Clarke, born in Brooklyn, New York, is a talented Afro-Panamanian artist who has fused her cultural heritage with an innate passion for music and dance. From an early age, Alessandra displayed artistic inclinations, beginning as a dancer and later establishing herself as a singer and songwriter.
Her musical style is an amalgamation of genres that reflects her multicultural identity. She moves fluidly from traditional Panamanian folk music and reggaeton to jazz and ballads, creating a unique approach that resonates with diverse audiences. Her main influences include Erykah Badu, Idania Dowman, Beyoncé, Lauryn Hill, and Rubén Blades, artists who have shaped her perspective and artistic approach.
Throughout her career, Clarke has trained in various artistic disciplines, earning scholarships to summer programs at prestigious institutions such as New York University (NYU), Berklee College of Music, AMDA, and The Juilliard School. Of particular note is the full merit-based scholarship that allowed her to study at NYU's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. Furthermore, her participation in the Danilo Pérez Foundation opened the door for her to join "Las Hijas del Jazz," the first all-female jazz big band in Panama.
